The Adam Cole Novels: Studies in Victorian Crime Noir

The full-length mysteries of a Victorian London private detective.

An AI rendition of Adam Cole. Accuracy not guaranteed. With thanks to S. Cimini.

The first Cole novel, Sweet Things Dying, hit the Casebook in August 2023, and since then saw weekly serialization of each chapter over a period of more than six months. As explained elsewhere on this site the goal of publishing these novels is to mimic the serialized publishing cycle common to Victorian Era novelists. This will continue to be the goal of each successive novel or story at the Casebook of Adam Cole. This page will serve as a storing house for easy access to each novel, so as to save the reader from having to search through the archives for individual chapters. Click on the link to each available novel below to learn about the story and to begin reading!

Unlike the out-of-order cycle of the short stories, the novels will tend to follow a chronological timeline from one narrative to the next, with the short stories all scattered before, after, and in-between. So they will be listed here below in publication order, beginning with Sweet Things Dying, and continuing into each successive novel as they come out.

Follow the links below to read more about each novel. A full table of contents for all chapter postings is included within, and in the case of a novel still under serialized release, chapters will be added as they become available. Enjoy and many thanks for reading!

Sweet Things Dying: About the Novel

Hello and thank you for being here! As always, the time you take to read anything that I post is much appreciated. And the more reading that you do, the more grateful I am. So, asking that you commit to a full-length novel is, as any writer will acknowledge, about the greatest effort I can request on your behalf, and that you would take the time to do so…
