He recalled the warmth and aroma of the coffeehouse, the choir of men’s voices, the clatter of dishes, and the crackle of the blaze in the hearth. All kept harmony with the sonorous voice of Mr. McWilliams who had joined Cole and Stewart at their table. Talk immediately turned to Heather and Mac gave his account of the last time he saw her.
